we're moving

We are finishing our last year in the analyst program in Tampa, FL.  now, all i know about Tampa, i learned from city-data and googlemaps :) heres what i know about Tampa:

Geoff is working on a large Citigroup campus which means we get to enjoy amenities like gym, pool, and preschool provided to the employees and their families.

His office is actually east of the city so he doesnt have to fight the brunt of the rush hour traffic which i assume isnt too bad anyways but leaves us with more family time.

We have researched some eastern lying suburbs and are looking at homes for rent in valrico and wesley chapel/ new tampa.

The same amount of rent that gets us 2 br apt in downtown miami will get us a 3 to 4 br house with a fenced in backyard in the same neighborhood as a great school.  hoorah!

we will be reunited with some favorite chains like:  Macaronni Grill, chick-fil-a and red robin- hallelujah!

Tampa has a pirate festival every year in January.

ive heard tell of a strawberry festival so i think that would mean strawberry fields for picking.

Tampa is home to Busch Gardens and a little over an hour away from Orlando.

Tampa is part of the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida MSA. The four-county area is composed of roughly 2.7 million residents, making it the second largest metropolitan statistical area (MSA) in the state, and the fourth largest in the Southeastern United States, behind Miami, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta.

In 2008, Tampa was ranked as the 5th best outdoor city by Forbes.

The word "Tampa" may mean "sticks of fire" in the language of the Calusa, a Native American tribe that once lived south of today’s Tampa Bay. This might be a reference to the many lightning strikes that the area receives during the summer months.

Tampa has a humid subtropical climate with hot summer days, frequent thunderstorms in the summer (rain is less frequent in the fall and winter), and a threat of a light winter freeze from November 15 through March 5.  Temperatures are hot from around mid-April through mid-October, which coincides approximately with the rainy season. Summertime weather is very consistent, with highs near 90°F (32-34 °C), lows in the mid-70s °F (23-24 °C), and high humidity.

Today, the Port of Tampa is the largest port in Florida in throughput tonnage, making it one of the busiest commercial ports in North America.Cruise itineraries from Tampa include stops in the Eastern and Western Caribbean islands, Honduras, Belize, and Mexico.

In 2004, Lowry Park Zoo was voted the #1 Family Friendly Zoo in the US by Child Magazine,

April

Geoff’s Birthday

He took off work (as customary in Miami-Ha!) and we hit the beach and succomed to the temptation to purchase a new ipad3!  We are counting it as his birthday, my mothers day, and his fathers day presents.  Other springy activities of the month include kite flying.
Jocie has added some more words and continues to play babies ALL the time. (and I as pictured neglect housework and dote on my new baby)  She also enjoyed trying to sing “Book of Mormon Stories” and other songs from the Childrens Songbook.  She busily flips pages in any notebook she can find and scribbles on each page like shes doing work.

Garrett and Mommy worked on some projects together (in the absence of primary preparation because I got released woohoo! and boo boo!)  If you’ve spent any time in the car with Garrett you know he likes to tell his own superhero stories so we made a magnet set to aid that and also painted some small wooden pieces to look like superheroes. (the 2 in the front are ones the kids painted)  Garrett also found a new bathtime fun- crayola’s bath drops- so he’s enjoyed colorful baths

Emmy is growing and getting stronger, starting tummy time, gooing, and getting attached to mommy and daddy.
